Milestones in our company history

1834  Sulzer company founded in Winterthur (CH)

1953  The first projectile weaving machines are supplied from Zuchwil (CH)

1967  Società Meccanica Tessile (SO.ME.T) founded in Casnigo (IT) and established Somet brand (weaving machines)

1973  Vamatex Weaving Machines brand

1982  Sulzer takes over Maschinenfabrik Ruti and introduces the brand name SULZER RUTI

1992  Acquisition of Nuova Vamatex weaving machines by Somet

2000  Promatech created by the merger of Somet and Nuova Vamatex

2001  ITEMA holding, set-up in December

2003  Opening of ITEMA Weaving Machinery Cooperation in Shanghai

2009  Name change of Sultex Ldt. in ITEMA (Switzerland) Ltd.

2011  Name change of Promatech SpA in ITEMA S.p.A.
